Title: GE History (Partly Fictional Context) — 2015
Post by: -{{<Darchind>}}- on October 26, 2021, 02:53:05 AM
History of the Galactic Empire, fictional context, last written in 2015. To be continued.

Prologue

The MSN Zone was launched in 1995. For the first time ever, gamers were allowed to interact with one another in a more social format, rather than just the singleplayer or home multiplayer formats of old. As the Zone grew in popularity, it not only attracted many players, but also many disruptive elements and disruptive players altogether. When games such as Heretic II and X-Wing Alliance were released, the selection of games on the Zone became increasingly competitive. The sociality of the online multiplayer format compelled players to form cliques, or "clans", as they were called. As with any association, the mutual, intrinsic interest in group rights swept those clans as a trend. Not before long, clans found themselves in competition with one another for supremacy; for the meager right to appear as the largest and most popular. Driving this inclination was the interest of online demagogues, who typically exploited the inclination for lobby moderators who were abbreviated as "sysops".

Expansion of the Cyber War

Outside of the MSN Zone, a war between roleplayers also raged on. Akan Kalydron formed the Jedi Order, a group inspired by the Star Wars "New Republic" novels. Eventually Kalydron's group would be recognized as the first and original Jedi Order on the Zone. Before the Zone launched in 1995, Kalydron and his group were already fighting a cyber war with the Hell's Jedi (HJ) guild. Both sought to establish themselves on the MSN Zone, which served as a more proper battleground than the mere chatrooms where they previously quarreled. The launch of Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II drove the MSN Zone's to new heights. It served as a worthy extension to the conflict between gamers who identified with the Star Wars culture, allowing those who identified as Jedi or Sith to transform their cyber conflict to a physical one, at least to a certain extent.

Kalydron's  Republic

Akan Kalydron and the Jedi Order took quick notice of the lack of constraint among competing clans. They sought to bring order between clans and players with the establishment of the Galactic Republic, a loose confederation of clans brought together in a unilateral forum that would allow them to settle their disputes while maintaining civility. The Republic sought to regulate where the Zone's sysops could not. However, the Republic's emphasis of peace through democracy and the rule of law quickly drew many to question and challenge the democratic order and the rule of law itself, swearing no fealty to a democratic order they perpetually felt undermined their interests while uplifting the interests of those who were in the majority. The Hell's Jedi heeded this sentiment and reverberated it, gaining a sizeable alliance of its own to further clash with the Republic. Because the Hell's Jedi recruited primarily the more aggressive players, they quickly imploded and became non-existent circa 1997; their stunt in Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II short lived. Whoever remained of the Hell's Jedi ranks either sought refuge elsewhere, under a new alias, or disappeared altogether. While this was true of most of them, it was not true of the one who remained.

Enter Darth Morbious

After the fall of the Hell's Jedi and the disappearance of its leader HJ_Palpatine, a lone individual who went by the alias of Morbious emerged. Formerly a member of the Hell's Jedi, Morbious gained favor among the more aggressive and disruptive gamers in light of his vocal opposition to Kalydron, the Jedi Order and the Republic altogether. Morbious accused the Jedi Order of exploiting the banner of peace and justice to guise its lustful interest in command and control. He accused it and the Republic's establishment of being the very thing it claimed to oppose: an authoritarian concoction. Many on the Zone supported the rhetoric and then Morbious' claims. Soon enough, they were reorganized into the most significant opposition the Republic would ever face.

Rise and Fall of the Empire

The emergence of Darth Morbious adversely impacted the Republic's credence among gamers on the Zone. Many flocked to his cause under the banner of the Galactic Empire; which, like the Republic, was inspired by Star Wars novelty. But unlike the Republic, the Empire sought not to resolve conflict, but to embrace it. It sought to redefine peace not as tranquility, but as the freedom to compete. It sought equality not through indifference in entitlement, but through the reform of competition; where the best players ascended to great heights while the less motivated and less determined would be left behind. The Empire's appeal to the natural order of things made it immensely popular among elitists in the Zone's population. Since the Empire appealed to more aggressive players, it naturally was superior militarily. Republic control was rapidly eclipsed by Imperial control. Agents of the Republic were bested by agents of the Empire in Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, X-Wing Alliance and other theatres. By mid 1998, the Republic was rendered non-existent. Many of its loyalists moved toward independence while some succumbed to the will of the Empire. But the empire itself soon imploded, its detriment brought on by the intense competition for power between its clans, leading to rivalries between different factions. The lack of cooperation among the different factions resulted in the Empire's loss of cohesion and Morbious' loss of control. By early 1999, the Empire was divided up into several competing factions, such as the Avatar Empire and Emperor_Sidious' faction, which he affectionately called, "The Empire."

The New Era

After the empire's fall, various imperial factions warred with each other, racing to collect smaller clans and associations to bolster their own numbers. His empire having crumbled, Morbious faded into obscurity, only to re-emerge publicly in the fourth quarter of 1999. During the summer of that same year, he began instructing a youth who went by the alias Jedi_Lord17779. Like Morbious, Jedi_Lord17779 took special interest in Star Wars lore, and especially the gameplay of Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. With Jedi_Lord17779 and another associate named Sindel_, Morbious formed the New Sith Empire. More a cult than a clan, it was short lived and then succeeded by Jedi_Lord17779's own association, the Dark Empire. The Dark Empire was an offshoot of the original Galactic Empire concept. It strived to build a militant assembly, headed by a Sith-oriented leadership based on Star Wars novelty much like many of the clans of the time. Because of Jedi_Lord17779's erratic nature, Morbious called him "Darchind" (pronounced Dar-shind), word play on the moniker, "The Dark Angel": for it was inferred that the Darchind persona tactically penetrated the collective psyche of Morbious' enemies and caused them to destroy themselves from within. The Darchind persona would emerge as the cornerstone of the imperial movement throughout the rest of the Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II era, and later in Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.

Warring Factions

The rise of Darchind and the Dark Empire in Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II yielded a new contender in the battle for supremacy between the imperial factions. Sith_Legend, formerly darth_hard_butt, was a former recruit of Darchind's during the New Sith Empire stint. He became one of Darchind's primary targets for elimination when it was found that the clan he founded continued to carry the New Sith name long after the New Sith Empire had been disbanded. Annoyed, Morbious dispatched Darchind to annex the New Sith and to pressure Sith_Legend to merge the clan into Darchind's Dark Empire. When Sith_Legend refused, Morbious commanded that Darchind eliminate him and the clan altogether. Darchind, Tahlren, Fanthom, Morpheous and the rest of the Dark Empire's council hunted down, harassed and humiliated the New Sith both in-game and in the chat lobby, but Sith_Legend, Sith_Darth_Kiil and the rest of the New Sith's leadership refused to submit. Despite Morbious' call for the New Sith's elimination, Darchind quickly found virtue in sustaining the conflict, using the adversity to draw purpose for the Dark Empire's membership base, which was directed to make open war with the New Sith's membership base and its allies. Emperor_Sidious and other imperial faction leaders took notice of the Dark Empire's advancements. Hoping to intercept Darchind's rise to power on the Zone, Emperor_Sidious sent his protégé, Dark_Appr_Luke, to challenge Darchind for control of the Dark Empire. During the duel, it was quickly observed that Dark_Appr_Luke was "cogging", or using altered or hacked files to gain an unfair advantage. Backed by Evil Allied Hax (EAH) and the most notorious hackers in the community, Darchind assaulted Dark_Appr_Luke with hacks of his own. This highlighted a conflict of interest, and would lead to a clash between rivals.

Clash of the Empires

The conflict of interest between Sidious and Darchind quickly became the focal point of the rivalries between the imperial factions. The two were signified by two polar opposite approaches. Sidious sought to rally clans while Darchind based his philosophy on recruitment and discipline. Sidious preferred to appeal to other clans and use their members as his own while Darchind sought to recruit and train an aggressive military. Darchind's feud with the New Sith clan naturally compelled Sidious to claim it as an ally. Outnumbered, Darchind realized that while his numbers could match Sidious' numbers for skill, his numbers simply did not match Sidious' numbers at odds. The realization compelled Darchind to begin building an Imperial alliance of his own. Two clans Darchind sought to claim as an ally were the Jedi Guardians (JG) and The Ultimate Destroyers (UD). Fundamentally objecting to the belligerence of Darchind's faction, both clans withdrew from their alliance with the Dark Empire, provoking Darchind's anger in the process. Darchind and the Dark Empire's Imperial Sith Council began aggressing both clans, who soon joined Sidious' alliance along with the New Sith. Darchind's and Sidious' factions warred with each other until the spring of 2000. Sidious' online love interest CRK_KittyKlaws as well as his majordomo Exar_Kun and Exar_Kun's online love interest Empress_Kate were among the casualties of the war. They were initially manipulated by Darchind to betray Sidious' trust, leaving Sidious emotionally stricken and willing to challenge Darchind to a final duel, after which Darchind had them eliminated. On Wednesday, April 26th, 2000, Darchind defeated Sidious by a 4-0 margin in the Bespin Mining Station map in the Nar Shaddaa lobby of Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. It concluded the war with Sidious' faction. With newfound momentum gained from the victory, Darchind and his cohorts erased the Avatar Empire and most of the other prominent Imperial factions from existence. Sith_Legend and what remained of his New Sith clan, as well as COMS_Cable and others who had sided with Sidious, were swiftly neutralized. Alas, the Galactic Empire was reborn.

Progressive Imperialism

The Galactic Empire's sudden rebirth marked the organization's transition from the traditional imperialist ideas of the past. Traditional imperialism stressed the need for expansion and conquest to ratify the interests of the exceptional few who happened to be in power, if not the unequivocal subservience to an authoritarian regime. Heavily inspired by neoconservatism in real world application, Darchind believed in a kind of progressive imperialism, which merged the interests of democratic order with the ambitions of organization-centric goals. Unlike Morbious' iteration or Sidious' faction, Darchind's Galactic Empire stressed the need for a strong and highly disciplined military, straying from the authoritarian onset that he believed proved virtually futile on the internet because of the greater degree of moderation that it necessitated, aside from the lack of longevity that was significant of any concept of "clan", in proper retrospect. Darchind enlisted D_Nukem and Darconn to spearhead his new Imperial Armed Forces, later more formally called the Imperial Army or Imperial Military. He would use this military assembly for efforts to reconstruct the Galactic Empire. Nukem's and Darconn's differences with Darchind grew irreconcilable. Nukem believed Darchind's agenda was diabolical and Darconn became obsessed with his own reign over some of the members, growing confident enough to turn against Darchind for a time, though Darconn's uprising would ultimately be short lived. It was during this same period, in early 2000, when Darchind took on the alias of GE_GG_Viers and experimented with other games of interest, such as Diablo II, Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance and MechWarrior III, where he established the first Imperial Navy. GE_GC_Eminem was appointed the establishment's Grand Consul and GE_GA_Wolverine was appointed its Grand Admiral. The war front in Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II and the dwindling popularity of MechWarrior III itself caused Darchind to revert his focus to the Dark Forces II arena, and the MechWarrior III establishment was short lived. Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance was also short lived, but Diablo II remained a focal point of interest for Darchind and the imperials for many years to come. It brought a newfound sense of interest in Satanism and the occult, which influenced the rebirth of the Darchind persona as a demonic overlord, or the eldest of Hominus Nocturna, a shadow government that would direct all of the Galactic Empire's affairs going forward. Hominus Nocturna itself would later be known as the Overlords' Circle.

The JG War

Led by JG_Havok, who later called himself JG_PhoeniX_, the Jedi Guardians (JG) clan emerged as a significant power in Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. This presented a new conflict of interest with Darchind and the resurfacing Galactic Empire, who sought to control the establishment as well. Propagating Darchind as a malevolent, uncompromising brute, the Jedi Guardians capitalized by appealing to the friendlier sensibilities of the Zone's player base, whereas Darchind and the empire were limited to recruiting just the more aggressive players among the population. The empire waged war on the Jedi Guardians for roughly two years. UD_UL_Dreco, leader of the Ultimate Destroyers (UD) clan and ally of the Jedi Guardians, attempted to assist JG_Voodoo, JG_Jaguar, JG_Deadeye and the JG clan's efforts altogether, but his clan was unable to withstand the daily, constant assault by Darchind's forces.

Reorganization of the Military

Darchind and his cohorts grew increasingly dissatisfied with the lack of appeal the empire's centralized military force had, but mostly with the military's lack of ability to adapt to more than one online multiplayer game of interest. Many members and prospective members found it was either confusing or it was taken too seriously. In summer 2001, Darchind convened with Consul Chimaera, Minister Veon Kurr and Minister Strife, who comprised the leadership of the empire at that time. It was decided among the imperials that the only prudent course of action would be to take the old military concept, as well as its hierarchy, and divide it. The empire's military, as well as its government, were reorganized into five new divisions: the Imperial Government (IG), the Galactic Imperial Army (GIA), the Galactic Imperial Navy (GIN), the Galactic Imperial Air Force (GIAF) and the Galactic Imperial Marine Corps (GIMC). The resulting chain of command was almost an exact replica of the United States of America's military branches. It allowed the simultaneous existence of equal leaders for each division of the military, designed to be established in a game based on the game's genre. Aside from the Imperial Government (IG) division, the Galactic Imperial Army (GIA) was the only division established in Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. It would prove instrumental in routing upstarts such as Emperor_Des' "The Galactic Empire" (TGE) guild, which the GIA division eliminated in order to solidify the empire's warning to any who tried to play usurper. The Galactic Imperial Navy (GIN) was established several years later in Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy under the overlord Darkahn and Admiral Gloobenhagen.

Seknem's Doctrine

By the end of 2001, nothing was more synonymous with the Galactic Empire than the heart of its military, the division called the Galactic Imperial Army (GIA). Shortly after the reorganization in the summer, Darchind and Chancellor Shiva, both the heads of the empire's leadership, selected a talented marksman in IRG_Lee -- who took on the name of Seknem Aralias – to command its GIA division as its first Supreme General. Supportive of the imperial doctrine of conquest with purpose, Seknem revolutionized the fundamentals of the empire's military discipline. He discarded the traditional imperialist ideas of mass recruiting and number buffing, instead emphasizing the motto of quality over quantity. Seknem theorized that by recruiting less members but giving full focus to their development both as combatants and as individuals, even the smallest set of imperials could overcome a large assembly. Taking the reins from Darchind as the head of the army, Seknem ratified his theory by putting it into full effect, recruiting and developing agents who would not just defeat the enemy in-game, but infiltrate and divide its numbers from within. Seknem's philosophy became the perfect conduit to Darchind's aggressive diplomacy, giving the empire military muscle it never truly had at any time prior. Together they employed new tactics founded in Seknem's quality-over-quantity doctrine to annihilate the Jedi Guardians. Seknem's doctrine would come to redefine the empire from its core.

The Dissident League

Although Seknem, Darchind and the Imperials were successful in eliminating many of the empire's nemeses, they were not strangers to public resentment on the Zone, especially from some within the empire's own ranks. GIA_HGG_Locke, who had served under Seknem as High Grand General, left the empire in light of his moral objections. Together with Anduil Siron, he formed the Galactic Empire Confederacy (GEC), a group that called for less centralization of the empire's leadership and more rights to the lobbies that the empire controlled. They formed a loose confederation of allies, made up mostly of clans and individuals most impacted by the empire's ventures. This confederation came to be known as the Dissident League; its premise to liberate clans and territories of Imperial control. To avoid Stigma, Locke and his confederacy refused to call themselves rebels, as they still considered themselves imperials. GIA_HGG_Tessek, who was Locke's successor and formerly TEH_Emperor, a one-time loyalist to Emperor_Sidious, eventually defected to this confederacy. But the confederacy itself would eventually dissipate as its constituents and the public became increasingly aware of their agenda to usurp control of the empire's territories and replace the more progressive, republican style leadership of the empire with an authoritarian oligarchy. The Dissident League did not survive past 2000, but some of its constituents continued to be a thorn in the empire's side. Two of those constituents, ISO_Narsil and ISO_Hides, formed a new guild in the wake of the league's demise. They called it the Imperial Saber Organization (ISO). The ISO guild would dedicate itself to meddling in the empire's affairs and using propaganda to rally clans against the empire itself into the Jedi Outcast era.

Jedi Outcast Era

By the end of 2001, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast had been in development, and its release in the spring season of the following year was widely anticipated. It officially released on March 25th, 2002 and took the gaming world by storm. It was a monumental upgrade from its predecessors, Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, both aethestically and mechanically. Whereas Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II's lightsaber combat was limited to just one to three possible attacks, Jedi Outcast sported an array of different attacks across three combat stances. The new dynamic necessitated use of the mouse, making for a whole new dimension of skill, as well as increased competition among players. This was especially appealing to the empire;  which, under Seknem's doctrine, sought to instill discipline in its recruits. The greater need for skill in the game was realized by the Imperials as the perfect extension to instill key membership values, which would stem from the key fundamentals of the empire's foremost intellectual discipline: grammatical standards, figure of speech and, subsequently, the cognitive development of members. Members who followed the linguistic standards of the empire's leadership often found themselves in elevated positions. Because they improved their language, they were ideally more aware and more competent. Throughout the first half of the Jedi Outcast era, circa 2002-2003, imperials' collective focus on these principles yielded an entirely new generation of members such as Lord_Dernael (SD_Attack) in the wake of the collapse of SD_Havok's leadership and Silent Death's (SD) demise, GIA_HGG_Tarkin (later the overlord Talamaur), GIA_HGG_Xaleth, GIA_FL_Fazer and other loyalists. While the empire's leadership focused on advancing the empire's interests in Jedi Outcast by warring against BZKR_Orson and his Berzerkers clan, as well as other clans rallied by ISO_Narsil and ISO_Hides, other imperials continued to recruit in Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, where the Galactic Imperial Army (GIA) division was arguably the sole superpower.

Collapse of the Jedi Guardians (JG)

The militant aggression of the empire under Seknem's directive propelled the empire to countless victories over various clans and associations, but no victory was more significant than the empire's victory over the Jedi Guardians (JG) clan. Seknem sought to do what his predecessors could not: eliminate the JG clan. He succeeded by infiltrating the JG member base and turning the members upon themselves, leaving the political theatre to Darchind, Vieren, Torael and the imperial overlords. JG_Havok, now JG_PhoeniX, attempted to salvage the guild by recruiting in Jedi Outcast and renaming the guild to "The One" (The_1_), but Seknem, GIA and other imperials made quick work of them, sabotaging their recruitment sessions and outcompeting them with raw skill. The_1_ imploded into non-existence.

The eXistence Secession

While Darchind and Seknem focused most of the empire's leadership toward settling a new establishment in Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, the Galactic Imperial Army (GIA) became the sole superpower in Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. It reigned over the lobbies with well over a hundred members, most of whom were online daily. GIA_GG_sMoKeY, a grand general in the empire's ranks, was promoted to the rank of Supreme General to replace Seknem as the head of the Dark Forces II establishment; since at the time the chain of command ruled that one set of five high commanders ruled over each GIA faction. The explosion in the size of the empire's leadership would not be without consequence. sMoKeY, who was now Korzac, alongside his subordinate GIA_HGG_Erythros, sought to implement the "recruiting net" program, an initiative designed to mass recruit members through deliberate lobby control; whereas, GIA members would each host their own room and recruit rather than congregate together in one or a few rooms in the lobby. Departing from Seknem's quality-over-quantity standard, Korzac brought a massive number of new additions to the imperial ranks. In the summer of 2002, he organized secession from the Galactic Empire, alleging that Darchind was a racist warmongerer. Korzac and his supporters exploited Darchind's use of an inverted swastika in order to justify their secession. They called their new clan the eXistence Imperial Army (eXia), and would convince their future members that eXia had existed before GIA. Provoked by Korzac and his members in the chat lobby, Darchind and Seknem bombarded eXia's game sessions for nearly forty-eight hours straight. ISO_Narsil and ISO_Hides briefly tried to assist the eXia separatists, but were virtually a non-factor. Outmatched by the elders amongst the imperial leadership, Korzac reached a truce with Darchind, decreeing that in exchange for freedom from the Galactic Empire label, they would steer clear of Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and any other game that the empire was involved in. To express his sincerity, Korzac renamed his clan simply to "eXistence" (eX). Approximately nine months later, eX_Rivix breached the truce by attempting to recruit in Jedi Outcast. Seknem and several GIA members responded by raiding Rivix's server and discouraging any of his recruits. This effectively returned the empire and eXistence to hostile relations for the next few years.

The SWG Experiment

By the summer of 2003, Jedi Outcast's popularity had taken a notable hit in light of Ravensoft's release of patches 1.03 and then 1.04. Between both patches, gameplay changed so dynamically that many players were unwilling to adjust to the changes. Among those players, Darchind left the Jedi Outcast establishment for roughly the next ten months. He joined Dernael on the Scylla server in Star Wars Galaxies, where the two sought to expand the empire's interests as they explored the massive multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) genre. Under the aliases of Dernael Elexion and Teral Iraiden, Dernael and Darchind abandoned their respective personas and settled the Mandalorian Army (MA) guild in August 2003. Iraiden  was soon joined by Manix Macleod, or GIA_GG_Manix from the GIA's Dark Forces II division, where Manix was formerly an eX separatist. Darchind was also joined by Amoke Wepar, formerly eX_Amoke, Korzac's second-in-command and vice president in the eXistence guild.  Both Manix and Amoke had left the eXistence guild in light of irreconcilable differences with Korzac, whom they called a malevolent dictator. With Manix, Dernael, Duss, Aolile Starfire and a host of other associates, Iraiden (Darchind) organized a small community of player houses outside of the city of Bestine on the planet Tattooine. When the fellowship improved in character levels and in-game wealth, they migrated to the planet Dantooine, where they settled a small player city called Mandaloria just outside of the Agro Outpost spaceport. In the early spring season of 2004, Iraiden and Duss were joined by Arven and Ayami (Angel_Tears), two of Duss's confidants from the MSN Gaming Zone. Guided by a vendetta against the Darchind persona, Arven and Ayami made it a point to meddle in the affairs of Iraiden, Duss and the rest of the guild, leading to a significant fallout between Manix, Iraiden and Dernael.

Battle Against 4-FoaD

Upon learning of the connection between Ayami, Arven and an individual named JK_Landon_, who was obsessed with Duss, Iraiden concluded that Ayami's and Arven's actions were motivated by Landon's obsession. This compelled Iraiden to return to Jedi Outcast, where he reassumed the mantle of the Darchind persona. There, he was greeted by another convenient revelation: a clan called the Nitrus Oxciders (NoS), led by NoS_Smokey, had been feuding with Seknem's GIA members. It so happened that they were allies of JK_Landon_, whose presence was made known as soon as Darchind returned to Jedi Outcast with Duss. Darchind reinforced Seknem and the newly appointed GIA high command comprised by High Grand General Savage (GIA_HGG_Savage), High General Denom (GIA_HG_Denom, later the overlord Daemonicus), High Major General Zephyrus (GIA_HMG_Zephyrus) and High Brigadier General Actor (GIA_HBG_Actor). Joined by a slew of allies such as the overlord Mordren's Lords of Continuum (L-oC) guild and GIA frontmen such as Maverick, Viper and Plant, the empire declared war on the Nitrus Oxciders (NoS) guild and JK_Landon_, who made up an alliance called 4-FoaD. The imperials bested the 4-FoaD members in the in-game contest and the war did not last more than a three to four weeks. Darchind returned to his endeavor in Star Wars Galaxies following the empire's swift and decisive victory. Seknem and the rest of the GIA high command remained behind to oversee the empire's Jedi Outcast establishment in its final days.

Fallout in the SWG Establishment

When Manix verbally attacked Ayami In altercation, Dernael saw it as a provocation since he had been in an online relationship with her. This naturally posed a conflict of interest for Iraiden and Duss, who had been romantically involved themselves. Ayami and Arven left the guild in light of the conflict. The guild itself continued to operate, being a significant component of the imperial faction of players in the game; Veers (V) and Vortex Reborn (VR), led by LukeC and Johnboot, being the heads of the alliance. They warred against the KOTOR and Caenus Aeternus (CA) guilds led by ShadowKB and Fury Darkstar. Iraiden, Duss and the MA guild, later called Impera Mortis Ala (iMa), contributed to the war effort, but were often marred by internal struggles with the likes of Dernael, who developed his own vendetta against Iraiden for what he felt was Iraiden's support of Manix after Manix's verbal assault of Ayami. After leaving the iMa guild, he engaged Darchind in a costly propaganda war. He dissuaded current members of the guild to leave and he discouraged new members from joining. In August 2004, Iraiden and Duss mutually parted ways and left the game simultaneously, bringing the Impera Mortis Ala (iMa) guild to an abrupt close. Roughly a month later, Iraiden returned, seeking vengeance against Dernael and his allies. Veers, VR, KOTOR and CA all collapsed due to sudden internal struggles within a two week time frame. The Darchind persona was reborn.

The Council of Five

By summer 2004, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast's player traffic was dwindling in the lows and the MSN Gaming Zone's days were surely numbered. In the aftermath of his departure from Star Wars Galaxies, Darchind returned to the empire and convened with Seknem and the rest of the GIA leadership. Together they moved to Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy in September 2004, where they commenced a new settlement. They initially played primarily on Darchind's private dedicated server, but moved to professional hosting soon enough. In Jedi Academy, the imperials gained a densely populated game and new recruitment opportunities. Darchind, Seknem, Savage, Denom, Zephyrus, Actor, Maverick, Viper and Plant possessed a wealth of experience in the game from the start, benefiting from their prior experiences in Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. Recruiting efforts by the eXistence (eX) guild on its own private server quickly caught the attention of the imperials. Given that the non-intervention pact with Korzac was rendered null and void by eX_Rivix's presence in Jedi Outcast the year before, the imperials aggressed the eXistence members on their server. Charging that Korzac was a malevolent fascist, Darchind demanded the removal of Korzac as the eXistence's leader as a condition of peacetime agreement. The eXistence guild refused. Unable to contend with the imperials' raw skill in the game, the eXistence high council enlisted the aid of The Force Confederation (TFC) guild, formed by Hides and Narsil in the wake of the empire's obliteration of their Imperial Saber Organization (ISO) guild in Jedi Outcast.

The Naval Expansion

Among the most powerful of the imperial overlords, Lord Darkahn joined Darchind and the imperials in Jedi Academy in early 2005. He was reeling from a costly secession in Jedi Outcast, where he had led an imperial spinoff guild called The Reborn Imperial Army (TRIA). Dissatisfied with the guild's direction, a number of his members assembled into a new guild that they called the Benevolent Order of Sith Knights (BOSK). Seeking the aid of Darchind and Seknem, Darkahn and his cohorts Gloobenhagen and Leviathan joined the ranks of the empire. Darkahn was reunited with Darchind and the overlords while Gloobenhagen and Leviathan were enlisted as recruits. Gloobenhagen quickly rose through the ranks in light of his demonstration of exceptional leadership. At this time, the custom maps "DoA Flight Arena" and "Naboo Hills 2.1" inspired ideas for a naval expansion. On February 5th, 2005, Gloobenhagen was appointed Grand Admiral (GA) of the Galactic Imperial Navy (GIN) division. With Leviathan and Darkahn, he led an ambitious recruitment campaign on the Naboo Hills 2.1 map. Within a few weeks, he was appointed the first Supreme Admiral (SA) of the division. Under Gloobenhagen's leadership, the Galactic Imperial Navy division grew to match the Galactic Imperial Army in numbers, comprising one half of a total member base of more than one-hundred and twenty. The rapid success of the GIN member base caused the empire's Jedi Academy server to be constantly full at thirty-two total slots, necessitating the expansion to a second server that would run the Naboo Hills 2.1 map and other flight based maps exclusively. Darkahn and Gloobenhagen would use the full extent of the GIN division to crush the BOSK upstarts and other marked targets in the air on the Naboo Hills 2.1 map, complimented by the GIA presence on the ground.

The Fall of Korzac

In the initial stages of the empire's Jedi Academy establishment, the eXistence guild was the focus of much animosity from imperials, who stormed their server daily. Lengthy discussions and passionate debates were had between the imperial and eXistence sides. Because Korzac had a tendency to censor information he found incriminating or threatening to himself, the empire's forums became the primary resort for most of the debate. Imperials in Jedi Academy aggressed the eXistence guild's Jedi Academy chapter as a primary means to pressure the eXistence guild to remove Korzac as its leader. eXistence members such as eX_Gauntlet, eX_Black_Ace, eX_Jai_Knight, eX_Vasecto and eX_Siri were notably the targets of imperials in Jedi Academy. During the summer of 2005, just after the establishment of the Galactic Imperial Navy (GIN), Wooklyn and other GIA members infiltrated the eXistence guild's forums, giving the imperial administration access to a significant number of eXistence usernames and accounts, which the empire used to bypass the eXistence guild's private forums. Imperials used the information they extracted to further their tactics of psychological warfare, pounding at the collective psyche of the eXistence leadership and permeating an atmosphere of uncertainty for the eXistence member base. The uncertainty was exploited particularly in eXistence's Jedi Academy chapter, where Darchind and the overlords engineered its collapse. Dernael, who had joined eXistence to spite Darchind, settled his differences with Darchind and turned over the information for the eXistence Jedi Academy server to Darchind and the Imperial Administration. Darchind, who successfully manipulated the affections of eX_Siri and caused her to defect, used the information in a simultaneous emotional attack on the eXistence loyalists. Dernael's betrayal of eXistence in order to regain the favor of Darchind and the imperials, coupled with Siri's defection, caused the instant collapse of the eXistence guild's Jedi Academy chapter. Overwhelmed by widespread emotional distress in the guild, Korzac resigned from the eXistence guild altogether in February 2006. The Imperial Administration then formally announced the end of the empire's concern with the eXistence guild,
